At ProFormance Therapy and Wellness, the approach is a little different. We are different from traditional physical therapy clinics since we see patients in a private and comfortable one-on-one setting or at events. Sometimes, therapy is even in your home. During your first visit, you will be evaluated, treated and provided with a unique treatment plan and self treatment strategies that you can perform on your own at home right away.
The focus is on correcting the ORIGIN of your pain, movement dysfunction, instability, or difficulty performing activities. The source of your pain or dysfunction may not be directly located where you can see or feel the problem. The evaluation will include your specific area of concern as well as areas above and below to determine the contributing factors. Often, it is due to an old injury or an area of fascial tightness. For example, it is not uncommon for a person's ankle or hip tightness to cause back pain.
As contributing factors are found, manual therapy and movement retraining techniques will be utilized to resolve these dysfunctions. Manual therapy will consist of tissue releases, myofascial unwinding, passive stretching, trigger point releases, and other techniques to resolve your pain and improve your body's ability to move naturally. These techniques will utilize the therapists' hands, cupping, dry needling, and instruments such as the Edge Mobility blade or other tools according to your needs. Then, ProFormance practitioners will work with you on correcting movement imbalances to return you to pain free movement.
The perks of being a ProFormance client: As a result of our approach, many patients require fewer visits to get results and are back to enjoying life much faster than when attending traditional clinics. Between visits, you receive unlimited email and text support with a 24hr response. Dr. Duggan also provides counseling on how to manage painful daily activities and performs weekly reassessments intertwined with treatment to ensure you receive the care you need each visit. Most visits include an updated electronic home program to help you manage between visits.
